Police in California are actively searching for a brazen wedding crasher who made off with approximately $60,000 in cash and checks gifted to a bride and groom during their wedding celebration.
The theft occurred in the early hours of Sunday, August 31, at a wedding hall in Glendale. According to witnesses, shortly after midnight, a male suspect entered the venue, seized a gift box containing the money, and fled through an exit.
Surveillance footage captured the suspect escaping the scene in a waiting Mercedes SUV.
Authorities describe the suspect as a bald man in his 40s, of either White or Middle Eastern descent, with a medium build.
Emotional Impact on the Couple
The stolen box reportedly contained cash and checks generously gifted by wedding guests to the newlyweds.
The bride, Nadeen Farahat, shared the heartbreaking moment with KABC: “As soon as we found out what happened, the music stopped, and everything just came to a halt. I ended up sitting on the dance floor, sobbing with my friends and cousins around me.”
The couple revealed the intruder had been inside the venue for at least 90 minutes before making his move.
“He was watching the dance floor, watching our family. It’s terrifying to think a stranger was at such a private, intimate event. It feels like such a violation,” Farahat added.
Ongoing Investigation
Glendale Police confirmed the investigation is ongoing, and the suspect has yet to be identified or apprehended.
Authorities are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed suspicious activity at the wedding to come forward.
