The Princess of Wales is set to round off 2025 with a festive tradition close to her heart — the Together at Christmas concert, held annually at Westminster Abbey.
Now in its fifth year, the event has become a cherished part of the royal calendar, bringing together communities across the UK to honour acts of kindness, compassion, and public service.
Hosted by Catherine, the Princess of Wales, the service is supported by the Royal Foundation and typically features musical performances, celebrity readings, and heartfelt tributes — all in the spirit of togetherness during the festive season.
Confirmed Return for 2025
While Kensington Palace has yet to announce an exact date, the Royal Foundation’s recently published accounts confirm the concert’s return. In the section titled “What’s next for the Royal Foundation?”, the report states:
“2025 will see The Royal Foundation continue to tackle the illegal wildlife trade, work towards demonstrating that it is possible to end homelessness, highlight the vital importance of the early years, and work with communities so they can thrive.
Finally, to close 2025, Together at Christmas will once again aim to bring together communities across the UK to celebrate people who have gone out of their way to help others with even more impactful local services.”
A Tradition of Music, Gratitude, and Giving Back
Since its inception, Together at Christmas has featured performances and readings by well-known figures including Gregory Porter, Paloma Faith, and Richard E. Grant. In 2021, Princess Kate even performed a surprise piano accompaniment, earning praise for both her musical talent and personal touch.
The 2024 concert marked an especially poignant moment. It was the first since Kate publicly confirmed she had completed cancer treatment, a topic she touched on during the evening. Speaking to Paloma Faith, the Princess admitted:
“I didn’t know this year was going to be the year I’ve just had.”
To which Faith replied, “The unplanned,” and Kate agreed:
“The unplanned, exactly. But I think lots of people this year have had such challenging times.”
Family, Community, and Remembrance
The Wales family — Prince William, Princess Kate, and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — all attended the 2024 concert. Outside Westminster Abbey, the children added handwritten notes to a “Kindness Tree,” with Prince Louis dedicating his message to his grandparents:
“Thank you to Granny and Grandpa because they have played games with me,” he wrote, in tribute to Carole and Michael Middleton.
More than 1,600 guests attended the service, which honoured individuals “who have shown love, kindness and empathy to others in their communities.” Attendees received beautifully illustrated Orders of Service, featuring artwork by The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse author Charlie Mackesy, along with a personal letter from the Princess thanking them for their contributions.
Broadcast Reach and Royal Support
The 2024 concert was broadcast on Christmas Eve on ITV1, reaching an impressive 3.3 million viewers. Senior royals were in attendance, including the Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Zara Tindall, Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, and Lady Gabriella Windsor.
A Message of Hope for the Year Ahead
As 2025 draws to a close, the return of Together at Christmas promises to be a moment of reflection, gratitude, and hope — themes that have defined much of the Princess of Wales’s public work, particularly in the wake of her own personal health journey.
The concert not only celebrates the season but also champions the everyday heroes quietly shaping their communities — a message the Princess continues to elevate with grace and authenticity.
