Will Pippa Middleton Be Granted A Royal Title Upon Kate Middleton Assuming The Role Of Queen Consort

The 40-year-old gained prominence as Kate’s maid of honour at her historic royal wedding to Prince William in 2011 and has since maintained a close bond with the Princess of Wales.

Pippa frequently supports her royal sister, attending her annual Christmas concert and accompanying her court-side at Wimbledon every summer. However, the question remains: will Pippa be bestowed with a royal title when Princess Kate ascends to the role of Queen Consort?

The answer is nuanced. While it would be unprecedented for Pippa to receive a title solely due to her sister’s royal status, there is a precedent set by Queen Camilla’s sister, Anabel Elliot, who gained a title when Camilla became Queen. Camilla appointed her as one of “the Queen’s Companions,” akin to her “ladies in waiting.”

Apart from any familial ties to the royal family, there is one title Pippa is slated to inherit. Her husband, James Middleton, is reportedly in line to inherit his father’s title as Laird of Glen Affric, thereby making Pippa the Lady of Glen Affric.

Pippa and James will inherit titles from James’ father

James’ father, David Matthews, presently holds the title, acquired after purchasing a vast 10,000-acre estate in the Scottish Highlands. In the interim, James and Pippa may be referred to as James Matthews of Glen Affric and Mrs. Matthews of Glen Affric.

Pippa and James exchanged vows in 2017. Although Kate didn’t serve as a bridesmaid at her sister’s wedding, she played a crucial role in the ceremony.

The then-Duchess of Cambridge led the page boys and flower girls into the church and assisted her sister as she prepared to walk down the aisle. A touching moment occurred when Kate adjusted Pippa’s wedding dress just before they entered St Mark’s Church in Berkshire.

Their wedding took place in 2017, near the Middleton family residence, Bucklebury Manor. Since then, the couple has been blessed with three children: Arthur, born in 2018, and daughters Grace and Rose, born in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
