Prince Harry Decided To Mark The Beginning Of His Formal Residency In The US On The Day He And Meghan Were Required To Leave Frogmore Cottage

As reported by the Daily Mail, Harry chose the day he and Meghan Markle moved out of Frogmore Cottage, a gift from Queen Elizabeth, as the official start of his residence in the US.

After enduring years of royal tensions, the 39-year-old Prince has definitively disconnected from his British roots, clearly indicating his intention to permanently settle in the United States.

To reflect this change, Prince Harry had to update the country of residence for his nonprofit ecotourism organization, Travalyst, necessitating the submission of new paperwork to Companies House. According to TMZ, he now designates America as his home base, a departure from his previous designation of the United Kingdom.

Prince Harry, along with his wife Meghan, officially departed from the United Kingdom on June 28, 2023, following King Charles III’s directive to vacate their residence, Frogmore Cottage. In the filings submitted by Companies House for Travalyst, Prince Harry designated June 29, 2023, as the “date of change,” which were filed on Wednesday, April 17.

Established in 2019, Prince Harry’s sustainable tourism company, Travalyst, is a London-based nonprofit. Corporate returns were filed at the end of the year to update Harry’s “new details,” as reported by the New York Post.

Based on recent documents, Harry stated that his “new country/state” was now the “United States.” Harry listed the UK as his initial place of residence when he created the company in 2019.

In 2020, Harry and Meghan initiated the widely referred to “Megxit” transition to Montecito, California, where they presently reside with their children, four-year-old Prince Archie and two-year-old Princess Lilibet.

While the potential implications of Harry’s decision to renounce his British residency on his titles remain uncertain, he may have an opportunity to address this matter during his visit to London with his father.

Prince Harry Formally Declared US Residence on the Day He Departed Frogmore Cottage

Allegedly, Harry and Meghan relocated their belongings from the Windsor mansion on June 29, 2023, which had served as their UK residence until their move to California in 2020. As per recently revealed business records, this marked the official declaration by the Duke of Sussex of America as his new place of residence.

Royal commentators speculate that Harry was profoundly affected by his father’s directive for him and Meghan to vacate Frogmore, a property gifted to them by Queen Elizabeth as a wedding present. There are also indications that Harry may have been attempting to convey a message by selecting this particular date.

“Charles and William knew it had to be done to emphasize Harry and Meghan were outside The Firm but he probably still thought he could keep a base here. Now he’s shown he accepts his life is in the US,” royal author Phil Dampier told The Sun.

Presently, during their visits to the UK, they lack a fixed abode and must rely on hotels or the hospitality of friends.

In February, on ‘Good Morning America,’ Harry stated, “The thought has crossed my mind but it’s not a high priority right now.”

This development follows Harry’s statement earlier this year, wherein he mentioned contemplating the prospect of acquiring US citizenship, a decision that would require him to renounce his royal titles.

In a 2022 interview with Today, Harry stated, “Home for me, now, for the time being, is in the States. And it really feels that way, as well. We’ve been welcomed with open arms and have got such a great community up in Santa Barbara.”
