Prince Harry has officially declared the United States as his new country of residence, as revealed in recent business filings in the United Kingdom.

Documents submitted to Companies House show that he updated his filings for Travalyst, his sustainable tourism initiative, indicating that he primarily resides in the US rather than the UK.

As a director of Travalyst, which he established in 2019, the Duke of Sussex holds at least 75 percent of the company’s voting rights, either directly or indirectly, as per the filing. Following their decision to step back as working royals and leave Britain, the Duke and Duchess relocated to Meghan’s home state of California in 2020.

The filings, published by Companies House on Wednesday, list the Duke under his full name, Prince Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex.

In the Travalyst filings, the Duke specifies that the change to his primary residence was effective from June 29, 2023, although it was only registered in electronic filings this week.

It states that his ‘New Country/State Usually Resident’ is now the USA. It was previously recorded as the United Kingdom.

The electronic filing related to a “change of individual person with significant control (PSC)”.

Royal observers have noted that this date aligns with the moment when King Charles requested the Sussexes to vacate Frogmore Cottage, a residence on the Windsor Estate bestowed upon them by the late Queen after their wedding.

Reports indicated that the Sussexes were disheartened upon being informed of their eviction from the five-bedroom Georgian cottage, three years after announcing their decision to step back from royal duties and move abroad.

The couple reportedly viewed the cottage as the “only place that’s left as a safe space” for themselves and their children, four-year-old Archie and two-year-old Lilibet, in the UK.

Phil Dampier, a royal author, suggested that through his business filings, the Duke may be expressing both his emotional distress over the eviction from Frogmore Cottage and his permanent severance of ties with the UK.

“As always with Harry a lot can be read into his actions,” he told The Sun. “Being ousted from Frogmore Cottage wounded him deeply. Now he’s shown he accepts his life is in the US.”

This development follows two days after the Duke’s unsuccessful attempt to appeal his case against the Home Office regarding the removal of his automatic police protection rights upon relocating abroad.

Additionally, the Duke has disclosed his contemplation of applying for US citizenship, indicating further his intention to establish America as his permanent residence.
