A woman, 21, was left fighting for life after drinking a coffee from a vending machine in a Majorca airport which was filled with insects. 

What Happened?

She had sought to quench her thirst on Monday when she bought the drink from a vending machine in the Son Sant Joan airport, Majorca. 

As she began drinking the coffee she noticed it tasted funny, then she took a closer look at the cup, only to saw a swarm of insects crawling inside it.

She Was Struggling to Breathe

She then started having an anaphylactic shock as her face began to swell up and her throat began to close, which left her struggling to breathe. 

It also caused the woman to develop ‘various sweeling’ on her skin.

She Spent 36 Hours

The woman was rushed to hospital in the ICU where she reportedly spent 36 hours before being released Wednesday.

What Will Happen Now?

Her family have now filed a complaint against the airport to the National Police, according to Ultima Hora.

They claim the presence of bugs in the coffee cup is a possible crime against public health and reckless injuries, the news site added. 

The family added that the machine, which has now been closed down, was clearly poorly maintained by airport staff.
