Buckingham Palace Posts Playful Jam Video In Response To Meghan Markle's Recent Release

Buckingham Palace offers a diverse range of products, including their own line of jams. This week, amidst Meghan Markle’s ongoing promotion of her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, where she gifted personalized jars of jam to her close friends, the palace’s Instagram account shared a video showcasing their own spread.

In the video, a member of the royal household staff is seen presenting the preserve adorned with the Buckingham Palace insignia on various baked goods, such as croissants, crumpets, and toast, all appropriately buttered, of course!

In the caption, the Palace wrote: “Our Strawberry Preserve is made using only the finest berries and is delicious served in a variety of ways. Some of our favourite ways are shown here: On a scone as part of a cream tea. On a crumpet. With a croissant. On toast. How do you enjoy your strawberry preserve? Let us know in the comments!”

A description of the product reads: “Our Buckingham Palace Strawberry Preserve is made in the UK using only the finest soft fruit. It is delicious either in the morning spread over crisp toast or for afternoon tea as the perfect accompaniment to freshly baked scones or inside a traditional Victoria sponge cake.”

The Palace showed off their own jam

For years, the royal family has been marketing their own jam, with King Charles introducing organic varieties through Highgrove House in the 1990s. Demand for the preserves soared in the days leading up to Buckingham Palace’s recent video, especially after Meghan unveiled her own jar. The Buckingham Palace shop’s social media regularly showcases its products and offers recipe suggestions.

The release of the video coincided with the anticipation of the launch of the Duchess of Sussex’s lifestyle website, American Riviera Orchard, which will feature its own line of jams. Earlier this month, Meghan, a mother of two, gifted jars of jam to 50 of her friends, including fashion designer Tracy Robbins and Delfina Blaquier, wife of polo player Nacho Figueras. The jams were presented in a basket surrounded by lemons.

Meghan started distributing her jam to friends earlier in the month

Taking to Instagram to thank Meghan for her gift, Tracy said: “Thank you for the delicious basket! I absolutely love this jam so not sure I’m sharing with anyone.”

In March, Meghan introduced her latest venture with the launch of a website and Instagram account under the name ‘American Riviera Orchard’. Accompanying this debut was a promotional video showcasing the Duchess participating in a range of activities, from gathering flowers to baking, and even twirling in a striking black dress.

Although her website and Instagram haven’t provided explicit details about her brand, filings for trademark applications have offered insights into potential products. These include digital and print cookbooks, as well as tableware like cutlery, dinnerware, and decanters, along with napkins and tablecloths. Additionally, the filings suggest a variety of food items, spanning from jams and jellies to spreads and butters.
