Video: Horror as colossal Baltimore bridge COLLAPSES, flinging 'at least dozen' cars into the river

Rescue squad are working tirelessly to save the lives of dozens of people who were plunged into the Patapsco River when the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed.

How it Happened

The bridge snapped after being hit by a container ship.

Sources confirm that at least a dozen cars hit the 47 degree water in addition to about 20 construction workers who were pouring concrete on to the bridge at the time of crash.

Information gathered tell that there was an explosion on the container ship that caused it to collide with the bridge sending container and diesel flooding into the water.

One of the vehicles that fell to the water was a tractor-trailer.

The container ship reportedly left Baltimore’s Seagirt Marine Terminal at 12:24am, and by 1:25am, the ship began to slow and diverted off of its course.

Number of Injuries

Footage shows lights going off on board just before the crash. As it is, six construction workers are missing.

Maryland authorities are using sonar detection devices to search for the crew members who fell into the 47F water as they were working to repair potholes on the 185-foot bridge when it collapsed.

The ship owners also said in a statement that: ‘There has been no pollution,’ per TradeWinds.

Multiple boats marked as Coast Guard search and rescue vessels were surrounding the ship around 3am Eastern. The Coast Guard later said that ‘multiple response units deployed for active search and rescue.’
